The Cyclical Consumer Goods & Services sector consists of corporations engaged in a wide range of production, including automobiles, homebuilding, household goods, textiles and apparel, as well as casino, leisure, hotel, media and retail operations and services.

The Retail sector of cyclical goods is divided into three separate categories. The first bring the Department Stores industry, which is compiled of 10 companies involved in the operation of department store chains including auxiliary Internet and mail order facilities. The industry has a market cap $179.7B and includes such companies as Big Lots (BIG), Dillard’s (DDS), JCPenney (JCP), Macy’s (M), Saks (SKS), Sears Holdings (SHLD) and Wal-Mart (WMT).

Another sector of the Retail industry includes the Catalog and Internet Order industry. This sector is made up of 37 companies dealing with internet and catalog retailing of single line and diversified product lines. The industry includes Internet and catalog retailers with auxiliary brick and mortar stores. Some of the well-known companies involved in this category include Amazon.com (AMZN), eBay (EBAY), Netflix (NFLX) and Expedia.com (EXPE), with an overall sector market cap of $21.1B.

The Specialty industry of the Retail sector is comprised of 81 companies working in the operation of stores and dealerships concentrated on a single product. The specialty industry includes car and truck dealerships, books, kitchenware, housewares, garden centers, auto parts, home improvement, office supplies, toys and sporting equipment. The Specialty Retail industry has a market cap of $20.4B, as companies such as AutoZone (AZO), CarMax (KMX), Barnes & Noble (BKS), Dick’s Sporting Goods (DKS), Office Depot (ODP), Home Depot (HD) and PetSmart (PETM) help make up the sector.

The last segment within the Retail industry is Discount Stores that are comprised of 10 companies involved in the operation of stores offering a diversified product line at a discount. With a market cap of $26B, the media sector deals with operations in broadcasting, entertainment production or publishing, in which more than two of the corporation’s business lines comprise a significant portion of total revenues.

Within the Broadcasting industry, the sector is comprised of 58 companies dealing in the operation of television, radio, cable and satellite broadcasting services. Such well-known names as Comcast (CMCSA), Time Warner Cable (TWC), TiVo (TIVO) and Sirius XM Radio (SIRI) with a collective market value of $19.7B make up this portion of Consumer Goods and Services.

Operating in the manufacturing of dress shoes, sneakers, slippers, boots, galoshes, and sandals and athletic and trade related products, the Footwear industry consists of 18 companies, with such big names as Nike (NKE), Finish Line (FINL), Wolverine World Wide (WWW) and Brown Shoe Co (BWS). The companies combine for a market cap of $19.3B and include additional products such as buckles, clasps, footwear parts, shoelaces, inner soles, heels and padding.

Lastly, the Consumer Electronics industry within cyclical goods and services involves 31 companies participating in the manufacturing of home audio and video equipment, such as home projection equipment, stereo systems, televisions, VCR and DVD players, jukeboxes and other related electronics. With a market value of $18.2B, the sector encompasses such names as Garmin Ltd (GRMN), Panasonic (PC), hhgregg (HGG) and Sony Corp. (SNE).
