This Week's Market Review

In a holiday shortened week, the markets ended in mixed fashion as there were few market moving events. There were a few deals early in the week including the Nasdaq making a bid for the remaining portion of the London Stock Exchange it does not own. We saw a few positive earnings reports from the likes of Medtronic, Deere, and Dell. The only economic report was the weekly claims data which showed a slight increase to 321,000. Oil ended the week up slightly, closing just below $60 per barrel while the yield on the 10-year note dropped to 4.53%. The focus going forward will be on the holiday shopping reports as the economic and earnings calender will be light in the coming weeks. The market may be susceptible to bad news for the first time in quite a while.

The DOW closed the week down, losing 62.39 points to close at 12280.17. The S&P was flat, dropping 0.25 points, ending the week at 1400.95. The NASDAQ rose 0.6%, adding 14.40 points, ending the week at 2460.26.
