• Remember to turn out the lights when leaving a room. In a corporate environment like BetterTrades this can be as simple as turning off the lights when exiting the restroom. It can mean powering the computer off at the end of the day.
• If you haven't already done so, go ahead and make the switch to the new energy efficient light bulbs. The new bulbs have a design that gives it an unusual look, but use about two-thirds of the energy required from an ordinary light bulb.
• Recycle paper from the copy or plain-paper fax machine. If possible, use the back unprinted side of the paper to print draft copies. Or just use the old paper as scratch paper. The average office worker uses a ream of paper each year, a number than can easily be reduced.
• Recycling is easy if the employer will provide bins for bottles and cans. Studies have shown that workers don't mind taking an extra step to use the bins, if they are provided.
• Take an opportunity to carpool. Find a fellow employee, or one who works in the adjoining building, and take turns driving to work. You'll save gasoline and reduce your stress level.
